A palletentry is a data record used in logistics and warehouse management to represent a physical pallet within a tracking system. It serves as the unit of traceability for pallets and their contents as they move through storage, handling, and transportation. In software terms, a palletentry is typically stored as an object or database row that can be linked to broader pallet records or to shipment data.

Typical fields associated with a palletentry include a unique pallet identifier, current location, and status (for example empty, loaded, in transit, returned). Additional attributes often tracked are weight, dimensions, loading date and time, last movement timestamp, destination, carrier or shipment reference, and owner or custodian. Details about the contents may be captured as a list of items with quantities, SKUs or batch numbers, and any special requirements such as temperature control or hazard classifications. Barcodes or RFID tags may be used to scan and update the palletentry automatically.

Purpose and workflow: palletentries enable inventory control, space optimization, and movement planning by providing a provable trail of where a pallet has been and what it contains. Common lifecycle steps include creation, loading, relocation, shipment, receipt at a new site, and eventual disposal or return. Systems may enforce validations, such as ensuring that loaded pallets do not exceed weight limits or that hazardous materials are handled according to regulations.
