Pakkaustiedot is a Finnish term referring to the information that accompanies a product's packaging and describes the packaging itself and how it should be handled. The concept covers both the physical packaging and the information printed on or with the packaging. The aim of pakkaustiedot is to support safe handling, correct disposal, and efficient recycling, as well as traceability of the packaging materials.

A typical set of pakkaustiedot includes the type of packaging material (for example plastic, cardboard, glass, metal) and a material identification code or recycling symbol; dimensions and net content of the packaging; information on inner or multi-pack packaging; batch or production codes and supplier contact; handling instructions such as storage, temperature, safety warnings; and guidance for waste sorting and disposal. In some cases it also includes country of origin and conformity statements or standards met.

In the European Union and many member countries, packaging and packaging waste directives regulate packaging design and labeling to facilitate reuse, recycling and proper waste management. National implementations, including in Finland, may specify requirements for how pakkaustiedot are presented, stored, and made available to authorities, retailers, and consumers.

Practically, pakkaustiedot serve three main audiences: manufacturers and suppliers for compliance and traceability; waste management and recycling industries for sorting; and consumers for responsible disposal and information. The term is often used in regulatory, environmental, and supply-chain contexts to describe the metadata that accompanies packaging materials.
