pHmonitoorimisel
pHmonitoorimisel is the systematic measurement and recording of a solution’s pH over time to assess acidity or basicity, monitor process stability, and support quality control and environmental compliance. The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14, with 7 representing neutrality at standard conditions; values below 7 indicate acidity and above 7 basicity. pH is related to hydrogen ion activity and is commonly measured using a glass combination electrode connected to a pH meter. Temperature affects readings, so measurements are made with temperature compensation or reported at a reference temperature, often 25 °C.
Measurements can be made online in process streams with inline sensors, or intermittently in the laboratory
Applications span water quality monitoring in municipal and industrial settings; agricultural irrigation and soil pH management;
Challenges include electrode aging, fouling, temperature and ionic strength effects, sample turbidity or coloration, and calibration
