oppiarvot
Oppiarvot, literally "learning values" in Finnish, is a concept used in Finnish education to describe the dispositions, attitudes and ethical considerations that learning activities aim to cultivate alongside knowledge and skills. The term combines oppi (learning, knowledge) and arvo (value) and is used in curricula, teacher education, and classroom discourse to foreground how students learn rather than only what they learn.
Common oppiarvot cited in educational discussions include curiosity and motivation, perseverance and resilience, collaboration and respect,
Schools may explicitly articulate oppiarvot in mission statements or curricular documents and integrate them with subject-specific
Critics note that "values" can be ambiguous and culturally situated, making consistent measurement difficult. Implementation varies
