Olimpíadas, or olimpiadas, is the term used in Portuguese and Spanish to refer to the Olympic Games, the world's premier international multi-sport event organized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The modern Olympic movement began in the late 19th century, reviving the ancient Games held in Olympia; the first modern Games were staged in Athens in 1896. The event traditionally features the Summer and, since 1924 for the Winter Games, separate editions every four years, with the two cycles alternating every two years since 1994. The Games bring together thousands of athletes from national teams under National Olympic Committees (NOCs). Host cities are selected through a competitive bidding process managed by the IOC.

Competition is organized into sport disciplines, and each edition features opening and closing ceremonies, official mascots, and a wide program of events. The IOC oversees athlete eligibility, anti-doping rules, and the protection of commercial rights. A parallel set of events, the Youth Olympic Games, began in 2010 to engage younger athletes; the Paralympic Games are held after the Olympic Games for athletes with disabilities. Olimpiadas have a significant cultural and economic impact on host cities, driving tourism, infrastructure development, and urban renewal, while also drawing scrutiny over costs, legacy, and human rights considerations. The Games aim to promote values such as excellence, friendship, and respect across nations.
