Odlitím is the Czech instrumental singular form of the noun odlití, meaning "by casting" or "through casting"; it is used both as a grammatical form to indicate means or method and as a descriptor for processes that involve pouring a liquid material into a mold to produce a shaped solid. In technical and industrial contexts odlitím refers to the act or result of casting metals, plastics or other materials, and is used to describe objects or changes produced by that process.

Casting is a manufacturing technique in which a molten material is poured into a shaped cavity and allowed to solidify. Common methods associated with odlitím include sand casting, die casting, investment casting and lost-wax casting. Advantages of casting include the ability to create complex geometries, produce large parts, and facilitate mass production; typical disadvantages include porosity, shrinkage, surface imperfections and the need for finishing operations.

Beyond metallurgy, odlitím is used in sculpture, dentistry (dental castings), and conservation (making molds and replicas). In Czech usage the form odlitím commonly appears in sentences to indicate the means by which something was made or transformed, e.g., "výrobek vznikl odlitím" (the product was created by casting).
