Norjanvaahtera is the Finnish name for Acer platanoides, commonly known as the Norway maple. It is a species of deciduous tree in the soapberry family, Sapindaceae. Native to eastern and central Europe and southwestern Asia, it has been widely introduced as a popular ornamental and shade tree in many other temperate regions, including North America.
The Norway maple is characterized by its large size, typically reaching heights of 20-30 meters (65-100 feet)
While valued for its ornamental qualities and shade provision, the Norway maple is also considered an invasive
