Nonlineære refers to systems, equations, or relationships in which outputs are not proportional to inputs and the principle of superposition does not apply. Nonlinear models often cannot be solved by simple algebraic methods and may exhibit rich and complex behavior that linear models do not produce.

Discrete-time maps like the logistic map or chaotic systems illustrate how simple nonlinear rules can produce unpredictable, aperiodic behavior.

They underpin models of turbulence, pattern formation, neural networks, and nonlinear control systems, and they motivate specialized techniques such as perturbation theory, bifurcation analysis, and advanced numerical simulations.
