Noncomputer is an informal term used to refer to objects, devices, or systems that do not involve general-purpose computing hardware or software. In everyday and technical contexts, it serves to contrast with computers, highlighting distinctions in functionality, programmability, and data processing.

Noncomputers typically operate without programmable processors, digital data storage, or software. They may be purely mechanical, analog, or passive devices that perform tasks without computation. Examples include wind-up clocks, typewriters, hand tools, and many simple measurement instruments that do not digitize input or store data.

By contrast, computers are characterized by their ability to execute programmable software, store data, and enable networked communication. The boundary between noncomputers and computers can be blurred when devices incorporate digital components without offering general-purpose programmability, such as some simple digital meters or embedded subsystems. In such cases, the designation noncomputer emphasizes the lack of a general, user-programmable computing capability.
