Nepolárním refers to a nonpolar molecule. In chemistry, polarity describes the distribution of electrical charge within a molecule. A nonpolar molecule is one where the electrons are shared equally between atoms, resulting in no significant partial positive or negative charges on different parts of the molecule.

This equal distribution of electron density arises from a few key factors. One is when a molecule consists of only one type of atom, such as diatomic elements like oxygen (O2) or nitrogen (N2). In these cases, the bond between the two identical atoms is inherently nonpolar because the electronegativity difference is zero. Another common scenario for nonpolar molecules involves atoms with very similar electronegativity values. For example, in carbon dioxide (CO2), the bonds between carbon and oxygen are polar due to the higher electronegativity of oxygen. However, the molecule is linear, and the two polar bonds point in opposite directions, effectively canceling each other out. This results in a net dipole moment of zero, making the entire molecule nonpolar. Hydrocarbons, which are composed solely of carbon and hydrogen atoms, are also generally considered nonpolar. The electronegativity difference between carbon and hydrogen is small, and the symmetrical arrangement of these atoms in molecules like methane (CH4) or ethane (C2H6) leads to a nonpolar character.

The nonpolar nature of a substance significantly influences its physical properties, such as its solubility and boiling point. Nonpolar substances tend to dissolve in other nonpolar solvents and are insoluble in polar solvents like water. They also generally have lower boiling points compared to polar molecules of similar molecular weight due to weaker intermolecular forces.
