The unique structure of nanoputkiset gives them remarkable strength and stiffness, with some SWNTs exhibiting tensile strengths over 100 times greater than steel. They also have excellent thermal conductivity, making them potential candidates for heat dissipation applications. In terms of electrical properties, SWNTs can behave as either semiconductors or metals, depending on their chirality, while MWNTs generally exhibit metallic behavior.

Nanoputkiset have a wide range of potential applications, including reinforcement in composite materials, sensors, field emission displays, and energy storage devices. Their small size and high aspect ratio make them ideal for reinforcing materials at the nanoscale, enhancing their strength and stiffness. Additionally, their unique electrical properties make them suitable for use in sensors and electronic devices.

However, the production and handling of nanoputkiset pose significant challenges. They are difficult to synthesize in large quantities and can be hazardous to human health and the environment due to their small size and potential for aggregation. As a result, ongoing research is focused on developing safe and efficient methods for producing and utilizing nanoputkiset.
