Mètode is a systematic and orderly way of doing something, designed to achieve a goal. It comprises a sequence of steps, procedures, and techniques used to obtain knowledge, solve problems, or perform tasks. Methods can be general, applicable across domains, or specialized within fields such as science, education, or programming, where particular practices define a discipline's approach.

The word derives from Greek methodos, via Latin methodus. In Catalan, it is mètode, with a grave accent on the first syllable; its plural is mètodes. Metodologia refers to the study or theory of methods rather than a single method itself.

In science, the scientific method is a framework of observation, formulating hypotheses, experimentation, data analysis, and drawing conclusions. Many disciplines adapt this process, modifying steps or emphasizing different aspects. In research, methodology denotes the overarching approach and justification for selecting certain methods, while the individual techniques or procedures used are called methods.

Methods vary by domain and purpose. They can be qualitative or quantitative, inductive or deductive, experimental or observational. In education, teaching methods range from direct instruction to inquiry-based learning. In computing, a method (or function) is a reusable block of code associated with an object or class.
