Målobjekt, plural målobjekter, is a Swedish term used in technical and academic contexts to denote the object that is the target of a goal, aim, or action. The word combines mål meaning “goal” or “target” with objekt meaning “object,” and it is commonly applied across disciplines to refer to something concrete or abstract that an activity is directed toward.

In robotics and automation, målobjekt is the object a manipulator should interact with, such as a part to pick up or a container to move, forming the focal point of a task specification. In computer vision and human–computer interaction, målobjekt refers to the object that must be detected, identified, or tracked, such as a vehicle, person, or product within an image or video stream. In project management and planning, målobjekt can denote the deliverables or end products that a project seeks to produce or achieve. In psychology and behavioral sciences, the term may describe the external object toward which goal-directed behavior is oriented, helping distinguish the target from the underlying motive.
