Mäntykoihin is a Finnish term that translates to "pine cones" in English. It specifically refers to the mature reproductive structures of pine trees (Pinus species). These cones are typically woody and ovulate, containing seeds that are dispersed when the cone matures and opens. The size, shape, and texture of mäntykoihin vary significantly between different pine species, from small, rounded cones to long, cylindrical ones.

The development of mäntykoihin begins with the flowering stage of the pine tree. Male cones produce pollen, which is carried by wind to fertilize the ovules in female cones.
