MultiThreaded refers to software that uses multiple threads of execution within a single process. Each thread can run concurrently with others, sharing the same address space and resources. The term is often used to describe systems designed to exploit concurrent execution to improve throughput and responsiveness.

Key concepts include thread creation, scheduling, and context switching. Synchronization primitives such as mutexes, locks, semaphores, and condition variables coordinate access to shared data. Common challenges are nondeterministic behavior, race conditions, deadlocks, and livelocks. Debugging multithreaded programs is harder due to timing variability. The overhead of context switches and synchronization can offset gains if not managed carefully.

Common patterns include thread pools, worker queues, producer–consumer pipelines, and futures or promises for asynchronous results. Many languages provide high-level abstractions to simplify threading, while ensuring safe memory access. Platform details vary: Java, C++, and Rust offer robust threading models, whereas Python's GIL limits true parallel CPU execution in CPython.
