multiGHz describes technologies, devices, and signals that operate in the gigahertz range, typically across multiple gigahertz bands or at multi-GHz clock rates. It is used to distinguish high-frequency systems in computing and communications from those limited to sub-GHz operations.

In digital electronics, multi-GHz often refers to clock frequencies or serial data rates used by CPUs, GPUs, and ASICs, as well as high-speed interfaces such as PCIe or memory links. Realizing reliable multi-GHz operation requires careful signal integrity, layout, timing closure, and thermal management.

In radio frequency and wireless contexts, multi-GHz operation encompasses the microwave bands from roughly 1 GHz up through tens of GHz and beyond. These bands enable high-bandwidth links, radar, satellite communications, and mmWave technologies, but suffer higher propagation loss, atmospheric attenuation, and stricter regulation.

Measurement and design considerations include the use of spectrum and network analyzers, time-domain reflectometry, high-speed oscilloscopes, and specialized test fixtures. Designers address impedance matching, crosstalk, skin and dielectric losses, jitter, phase noise, and temperature-induced performance variations.

Trends in multi-GHz systems include increasing integration of transceivers, advances in silicon and compound semiconductor processes, and broader adoption of mmWave and terahertz research. Power efficiency, packaging, and thermal management remain key challenges as speeds increase.
