Mudam, short for Musée d'Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean, is Luxembourg’s national museum of modern and contemporary art. Located in Luxembourg City on the Kirchberg plateau, it sits in the heart of the city’s European district and serves as a cultural hub for both locals and visitors. The museum presents a program of temporary exhibitions alongside a permanent collection, and it emphasizes international art from the post-1945 period as well as Luxembourgish art practices within a global context.

Mudam was inaugurated in 2006. The building was designed by the renowned architect I. M. Pei, whose modernist design emphasizes clean lines, spatial clarity, and generous gallery spaces intended to accommodate a wide range of media and installations. The facility includes multiple galleries, an auditorium, a bookstore, and a café, with educational and public programs designed to broaden access to modern art.

The collection at Mudam focuses on post-war and contemporary works from Europe and beyond, including painting, sculpture, installation, photography, video, and new media. In addition to its permanent displays, Mudam organizes rotating exhibitions, curatorial projects, and loans to and from international institutions. The museum also engages in educational outreach, family programs, and research initiatives to foster conversation about contemporary art and its social contexts.

Governance and funding are provided by the Luxembourg government in conjunction with cultural partners and private sponsors.
