It encompasses the operational mode (for example running, stopped, starting, braking), dynamic performance such as speed and torque, electrical conditions including current, voltage and power factor, and thermal or mechanical indicators like temperature and vibration. Diagnostic flags may indicate faults, alarms, or degraded performance.

In practice, motorstatus is produced by motor drives, condition-monitoring systems, or programmable logic controllers. Data sources typically include speed sensors, current sensors, temperature sensors, vibration transducers, and fault registers. The resulting information is formatted as discrete states (OK, fault, offline) and/or numeric measurements (rpm, amps, degrees Celsius) and is transmitted over industrial networks such as CAN, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, or fieldbus protocols.

Motorstatus supports maintenance and safety. Real-time monitoring enables immediate responses to abnormal conditions and informs predictive maintenance, energy optimization, and asset management. Historical motorstatus data supports trend analysis and reliability assessment. The granularity and latency of the data are driven by system requirements, with faster sampling used for critical drives and lower rates adequate for simple equipment.
