Monomeru is a term used in polymer science as a hypothetical monomer unit employed in teaching and theoretical discussion to illustrate fundamental principles of polymerization. In typical didactic use, monomeru is imagined as a bifunctional molecule bearing two reactive sites that enable chain growth or cross-linking. Variants such as monomeru-1 and monomeru-2 are described to demonstrate different polymerization routes, including chain-growth (addition) polymerization and step-growth (condensation) polymerization.
