The competitor's task is to correctly identify the actual location of the control point from the given options.

The objective is to find the correct control point as indicated by its unique code or description. Participants are typically given a control card or a digital device to record their choices. They must then navigate to the designated control point and confirm their arrival, often by punching the card or registering electronically. The challenge lies in accurately interpreting the map and the control descriptions to distinguish the correct location from the decoys.

Monivalintarasteikko can be used as a training tool to improve map reading skills and the ability to interpret control descriptions.
