Modeller is a term with multiple meanings in different contexts. In general, a modeller is a person who creates representations of objects, systems or processes, either in the physical world as scale models or in the digital realm as virtual models. This broad sense covers hobbyists, educators and professionals who build models to study, teach or plan.

In the hobby and professional worlds, scale modellers construct miniature replicas of airplanes, ships, cars, figures or dioramas. They may scratch-build parts from raw materials or assemble commercially produced kits, and they apply paint, decals and weathering to achieve realism. Model making can be individual work or organized in clubs, societies and competitions. Digital modeller is also a common term for people who create 3D models using computer graphics software, CAD systems or sculpting tools.

In science and engineering, a modeller is someone who builds mathematical or computational representations of real systems in order to analyze behavior, run simulations or inform design decisions. This includes fields such as physics, biology, climate science, economics and epidemiology.

MODELLER is also the name of a widely used software package for automated comparative protein structure modeling. Developed by researchers at the Sali laboratory, MODELLER constructs three‑dimensional protein models from amino acid sequences by satisfying spatial restraints inferred from template structures. It is a standard tool in structural biology and drug discovery and is available for academic use.
