Minigrafting is a specialized technique in horticulture and landscaping that involves the transplantation of small sections of turf or sod, typically measuring between 12 to 24 inches in diameter. Unlike traditional sod installation, which often requires large rolls of grass, minigrafting focuses on precision planting of smaller, discrete patches. This method is particularly useful for repairing damaged lawns, restoring small areas, or creating intricate designs without the need for extensive soil disruption.

The process begins with the preparation of the target area, which involves removing weeds, leveling the soil, and ensuring proper drainage. Small circular or square sections of turf are then carefully cut from a healthy donor area using a minigrafting tool, which resembles a large corkscrew or auger.
