Militarized is an adjective used to describe something that has been shaped by military influence, methods, or purposes. It can refer to processes that intensify the role of the military in civilian life, or to the transformation of a space, organization, or practice so that it operates with military discipline, equipment, or doctrine. The related verb militarize means to cause or undergo such a transformation. The term derives from military, with the suffix -ized indicating “made military.”
