Meetingevent is a term used in scheduling and calendar systems to describe a recorded instance of a meeting. While it is often used interchangeably with calendar event or appointment, a meetingevent typically emphasizes the collaborative nature of the item and its role in coordinating participants.

A meetingevent usually carries metadata such as start and end times, time zone, location or conferencing link, title or subject, and a description or agenda. It includes participants, normally as attendees and an organizer, as well as status (confirmed, tentative, or cancelled) and reminders or notifications. Optional fields may cover recurrence rules, privacy settings, categories, attachments, and related resources.

Lifecycle and behavior: A meetingevent is created by an organizer or by a scheduling system, may be updated or cancelled, and generally propagates to attendees through notifications. Applications commonly support synchronization across devices and services, conflict detection with other events, and integration with conferencing systems for virtual meetings. Recurrence enables multiple instances of the same meeting pattern.

Standards and representation: In data exchange, meeting events are typically modeled using calendar standards such as the iCalendar VEVENT component or the CalDAV specification, and are exposed via platform APIs that include attendee management and reminders. Time-zone and daylight-saving handling are important for correct scheduling across regions.
