liukuluvun
Liukuluvun (Finnish for floating-point number) refers to a common way of representing real numbers in computers. A liukuluku encodes a real value as a sign, a base, an exponent, and a mantissa, allowing a wide range of magnitudes with finite precision. In practice, numbers are stored in a fixed number of bits, using a normalized representation in which the leading part of the mantissa is nonzero.
The most widely used formats follow the IEEE 754 standard. In binary32 (single precision), a 32‑bit liukuluku
