Lipidikylläisen is a term that refers to a lipid that has reached its maximum saturation point with hydrogen atoms. In organic chemistry, lipids are a broad group of naturally occurring molecules which include fats, waxes, sterols, fat-soluble vitamins, monoglycerides, diglycerides, triglycerides, and phospholipids. The term "kylläinen" translates to "saturated" in English, indicating that all carbon-carbon bonds within the fatty acid chain of the lipid are single bonds.

Saturated lipids are typically solid at room temperature, as their straight, unbranched chains can pack together closely. This close packing leads to stronger intermolecular forces. Examples of saturated lipids include butter, lard, and coconut oil. In contrast, unsaturated lipids contain one or more double or triple bonds between carbon atoms in their fatty acid chains, which leads to kinks in the chain and prevents close packing, making them liquid at room temperature.

The consumption of saturated lipids has been a topic of extensive research and public health discussion. While they are a source of energy, high intake of certain saturated fats is often associated with increased levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, commonly referred to as "bad" cholesterol, which is a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases.
