Landmarkaligned is a term used in computer vision, geographic information systems, and related disciplines to describe methods, tasks, and datasets where local or global geometric landmarks are detected and then aligned across images, scenes, or temporal samples. The goal is to establish consistent point correspondences so that measurements, comparisons, or fusion can be performed reliably.

Core techniques combine landmark localization with geometric alignment. Rigid alignment uses translation, rotation, and scaling to align point sets. Non-rigid or deformable alignment employs methods such as Procrustes analysis, thin-plate splines, or diffeomorphic registration to accommodate shape changes. Point set registration algorithms such as iterative closest point (ICP) are used for 3D data, while deep learning approaches learn correspondences directly from data, often through spatial transformer networks or landmark regression networks.

Applications span facial analysis, medical imaging, remote sensing and mapping, historical cartography, and robotics. In facial analysis, landmarkaligned enables face alignment and morphable modeling; in medical imaging it supports multimodal registration using anatomical landmarks; in remote sensing, landmarks anchor map-to-image alignment across time or sensors.
