Kávéfajta refers to a specific type or variety of coffee bean. Different kávéfajták originate from various geographical regions and are cultivated under distinct climatic conditions, which significantly influence their flavor profiles, aromas, and acidity. The two most commercially significant kávéfajták are Arabica and Robusta.

Arabica beans are known for their delicate, aromatic qualities, often exhibiting notes of fruit, flowers, and sugar. They are typically grown at higher altitudes and require specific rainfall patterns, making them more challenging to cultivate. Arabica coffee is generally considered to have a smoother, less bitter taste and a higher acidity.

Robusta beans, as their name suggests, are hardier and more resistant to disease and pests, allowing them to grow in hotter climates and at lower altitudes. They possess a bolder, more intense flavor, often described as rubbery or chocolate-like, with a lower acidity and a higher caffeine content. Robusta is frequently used in espresso blends to create a stronger crema and a more robust body.

Beyond these two dominant types, there are numerous other kávéfajták, each with its unique characteristics. These can include variations within the Arabica species, such as Typica, Bourbon, and Geisha, or distinct regional classifications that highlight the influence of terroir on the coffee's final taste. Understanding kávéfajta is fundamental to appreciating the diversity and complexity of coffee.
