Kuivuustila is a Finnish term that literally translates to “drying room” or “drying chamber.” It refers to a space that is engineered or modified to achieve low humidity, low airflow, and often moderate temperatures in order to accelerate the drying of various materials. Historically, kuivuustila have been used in carpentry workshops and glassworks to cure freshly finished timber or temper glass, preventing warping or cracking that can arise from rapid or uneven moisture loss.

In modern applications, a kuivuustila may be a dedicated airtight room with an integrated dehumidifier and heating unit, sometimes combined with a filtration system to keep airborne contaminants at a minimum.
