Koordinátaváltozások, often translated as coordinate transformation, refers to the process of converting a set of coordinates from one reference system to another. This is a fundamental operation in many fields, including surveying, geodesy, cartography, computer graphics, and engineering. The need for coordinate transformations arises when data originates from different measurement systems or when a project requires a unified coordinate framework.

Different coordinate systems exist, characterized by their datum, projection, and units. A datum defines the origin and orientation of the coordinate system, while a projection specifies how to represent the curved surface of the Earth on a flat map. Common examples include geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) and projected coordinates (e.g., UTM, national grid systems).
