Konstellationsgrupper, often translated as "constellation groups" or "stellar associations," are not gravitationally bound structures like star clusters. Instead, they are collections of stars that share a common origin and are moving through space together. These stars were born from the same giant molecular cloud and thus have similar ages and chemical compositions. Over time, gravitational interactions within the group and with the wider galaxy cause them to spread out, making them less concentrated than a true star cluster.
