Konformaadid, also known as conformational isomers or conformers, are stereoisomers that differ in the spatial arrangement of their atoms, but are not different compounds. They can be interconverted by rotation around single bonds. Unlike other types of stereoisomers, such as enantiomers or diastereomers, conformers are typically not isolable at room temperature because the energy barrier for rotation around a single bond is relatively low.

The concept of conformational analysis is important in understanding the physical and chemical properties of molecules. Understanding conformational analysis helps predict molecular shape, reactivity, and interactions with other molecules, particularly in biological systems where enzyme-substrate binding and receptor-ligand interactions are highly dependent on specific molecular shapes.
