Umbrella organizations are common in many sectors, including sports, culture, youth work, civil society, and labor or professional associations. They serve as a liaison with national authorities and international bodies, help establish common rules, and play a key role in sectoral development and legitimacy. Membership criteria, funding models, and decision-making processes vary by organization and jurisdiction.
