Jockstrap, also known as an athletic supporter, is a garment designed to support the male groin during physical activity and, in many designs, to hold a protective cup in place. It comprises three main parts: a waistband, a fabric pouch that supports the genitals, and two elastic leg straps that run behind the thighs and attach to the waistband at the front and back. A protective cup—often made of molded plastic, rubber, or metal—is placed in the pouch for guarding against impact in contact sports.

The garment originated in the late 19th century and is commonly attributed to C. F. Bennett, a bicycle maker, who developed it for jockeys and cyclists to secure a protective cup. The term "jockstrap" derives from "jockey." Since then, jockstraps have become common in many male sports, and variations have emerged, including cups permanently integrated into the pouch or separate cups.

Materials vary but typically include cotton, polyester, nylon, or blends, with elastic waistbands and leg bands. Modern versions may offer moisture-wicking fabrics, added stretch, or contoured pouches for comfort and support. While primarily protective athletic gear, jockstraps are also sold as underwear and, in some contexts, as fetish apparel.

Care is straightforward: wash with similar fabrics, avoid high heat, and air-dry to preserve elasticity. Proper fit is important to prevent movement or chafing; the cup should sit securely in the pouch, and the leg straps should provide gentle support without digging into the thighs.
