intenderete

Intenderete is an Italian future tense form of the verb intendere, meaning “to understand”. The word corresponds to the second person plural, formal or plural “you will understand” in English. As a verb form, it is used in contexts where the speaker predicts or asserts that the listeners will come to grasp a concept, idea, or instruction in the coming moment.

The verb intendere itself is derived from the Latin intendere, which combines in- (“into”) and tendere (“to stretch, to aim”), originally referring to the act of extending one’s mind toward comprehension. In Italian, intendere can function both literally, as to comprehend, and figuratively, as to intend or plan. The future indicative ending -ete is added to the root intender-, producing intenderete for the 2nd person plural, future form.
