Common interior door widths range from about 600 to 900 millimeters, with heights near 1980 to 2100 millimeters, and thicknesses typically around 35 to 44 millimeters, depending on material and fire-rating requirements. Doors require a matched frame, proper hinges, a strike plate, seals or weatherstripping where appropriate, and correct alignment for smooth operation.

Maintenance and sustainability considerations include regular cleaning, repainting or refinishing as needed, and ensuring humidity control to prevent warping. Some doors carry certifications for sustainable sourcing, such as FSC or PEFC, and finishes with low volatile organic compound emissions.
