Informatika is the Hungarian term for informatics or computer science. It encompasses the study of information processing, computation, algorithms, software design, hardware, databases, and information systems. The instrumental form informatikával means "with informatics" and is used to indicate the tool or means by which an action is performed, for example: informatikával megoldották a feladatot.

The field is usually divided into elméleti informatika (theoretical informatics) and alkalmazott informatika (applied informatics). Theoretical informatics investigates algorithms, automata theory, computational complexity, and formal models of computation. Applied informatics includes software engineering, programming, databases, information systems, computer networks, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and data science. In education, informatika is taught as a school subject; in higher education, degrees may be titled informatics, computer science, information technology, or related fields.

In Hungary, informatika has broad utility in industry, research, education, and public administration. Professionals are typically called informatikus, with specializations in software development, systems administration, or data analysis. The term's exact scope varies internationally, but the Hungarian usage tends to integrate both theoretical and practical aspects of computing under one umbrella.
