Hållbild, sometimes written hålbild in some texts, is a Swedish term used in marksmanship to describe the sight picture—the visual relationship between the front sight, rear sight, and target as seen by the shooter. It is a central concept in shooting disciplines such as sport shooting, military and police training, and hunting.

A proper hållbild entails aligning the front sight with the rear sight and placing the aiming point on the desired spot on the target. In most pistol and rifle shooting techniques, the front sight should be crisp and in focus, while the target is slightly blurred. The rear sight and the edges of the sights should form a small, uniform gap around the front sight, and the top of the sights should be level to avoid cant.

Developing a consistent hållbild involves breath control, steady posture, and smooth trigger movement. Practitioners aim to reproduce the same sight picture shot after shot, so that their bullet impact remains predictable. Common faults include misalignment between front and rear sights, drifting or tilting of the sights, and altering the picture during recoil.

In practice, hållbild is taught as part of fundamental aiming technique. It is evaluated by how well the shooter maintains sight alignment and returns to the same picture with each shot, contributing to tighter shot groups and improved accuracy. The concept is closely related to sight alignment, sight picture quality, and trigger control.
