Hysteroskoopiale refers to a medical procedure known as hysteroscopy. It is a diagnostic and sometimes therapeutic technique that allows a doctor to visualize the inside of the uterus. During a hysteroscopy, a thin, lighted instrument called a hysteroscope is inserted through the cervix into the uterine cavity. The hysteroscope contains a camera that transmits images to a video monitor, enabling the healthcare provider to examine the uterine lining, or endometrium, and the openings of the fallopian tubes.
