huquq

Huquq is a term used in Uzbek and several other Turkic languages to denote law and rights. It refers to both the system of rules that govern behavior and the set of entitlements individuals or groups hold within a society. In everyday language huquq can indicate the body of law as well as the notion of rights, and in academic or professional contexts it is the basis of the field of study known as jurisprudence or huquqshunoslik.

Etymology and cognates: the word derives from the Arabic haqq (حق), meaning truth or right, with transmission through Persian and other intermediary languages into Turkic usage.
