HighSPF refers to a sunscreen product or formulation that offers a high level of protection against ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Sun protection factor, or SPF, is a measure of how well a sunscreen protects the skin from the sun's UVB rays. A higher SPF number indicates greater protection. While SPF primarily measures protection against UVB rays, which are the main cause of sunburn, broad-spectrum sunscreens also protect against UVA rays, which contribute to skin aging and can also cause skin cancer.

Sunscreens are typically rated on a scale from SPF 2 to SPF 50 and above. HighSPF generally signifies an SPF of 30 or higher, with many products reaching SPF 50 or SPF 100. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. Higher SPF formulations are often chosen by individuals with fair skin, those who burn easily, or during prolonged periods of sun exposure.

It is important to note that no sunscreen can block 100% of UV rays. Even with highSPF products, reapplication is crucial, typically every two hours, or more frequently if swimming or sweating. Proper application, covering all exposed skin, is also key to achieving the stated level of protection.
