Education and training typically begin with six years of study at a Turkish medical faculty, culminating in the qualification of a physician. After graduation, graduates usually complete a compulsory internship year and obtain a professional license to practice. Many pursue specialty training through accredited residency programs, chosen via a national examination.

Regulation and professional standards are overseen by the Ministry of Health and the Turkish Medical Association (Türk Tabipleri Birliği). Physicians must register with professional bodies, follow a code of ethics, and participate in continuing medical education to maintain licensure.
