Birlii

Birlii is a coastal town and municipal district in the fictional nation of Veridia, located on the northern coast of the continent of Euradia. It lies along the Birlii Bay and is known for its harbor and mangrove wetlands. The town experiences a temperate coastal climate with relatively mild winters and warm summers.

The name Birlii is derived from the ancient Veridian language, with proposed meanings including “harbor of ships” and “bright bay,” though the exact origin remains debated among scholars.

Founded in the 12th century as a fishing village, Birlii grew with maritime trade and, by the 18th century, developed into a center for shipbuilding. The town has experienced periods of growth and decline, and underwent significant port modernization in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Today the harbor remains central to its identity.

Birlii is governed by a mayor and a municipal council within Veridia’s district framework. The population is around 28,000, comprising fishing families, service workers, and a growing number of commuters.
