Heitlussüsteem refers to a ventilation system designed to remove stale or polluted air from a building and supply fresh air. This process is crucial for maintaining indoor air quality, preventing the buildup of moisture, and ensuring a healthy and comfortable living or working environment. Heitlussüsteem can range from simple passive systems to complex mechanical and heat recovery systems.

Passive systems rely on natural ventilation principles, utilizing wind pressure and the stack effect (warm air rising) to move air through openings in the building envelope, such as windows and vents. These systems are generally less energy-intensive but offer less control over airflow and can be less effective in certain weather conditions.

Mechanical systems, on the other hand, use fans to actively draw air out of and/or push air into the building. These systems provide greater control over the volume and direction of airflow, allowing for consistent ventilation regardless of external factors. Mechanical systems are often integrated with filters to remove particulate matter and other pollutants from the incoming air.

Heat recovery ventilation (HRV) and energy recovery ventilation (ERV) are advanced types of mechanical systems. HRVs transfer heat from the outgoing stale air to the incoming fresh air during colder months, and vice versa during warmer months, thus reducing the energy required for heating and cooling. ERVs perform a similar function but also transfer moisture, which can be beneficial in humid or very dry climates. The proper design and maintenance of a heitlussüsteem are essential for its effectiveness and for maximizing energy efficiency.
