International standards and coding systems such as ICD, SNOMED, and widely used surveys and registries underlie many health statistics activities, with organizations like the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and national statistical agencies playing key roles.

With advances in digital health records and real-world data, health statistics increasingly employ big data analytics and machine learning, while maintaining emphasis on validity, reproducibility, and public trust.
