Havaintoverkosto is a Finnish term that literally means “observation network.” It refers to a coordinated system of observers, instruments, or data‑collection stations that gather real‑time or systematic observations over a defined geographic or thematic area. The concept is widely applied in environmental monitoring, forest and land‑use management, climate science, and citizen‑science projects. Each node in a havaintoverkosto may be a human observer, a remote‑sensing satellite, a weather station, or an automated sensor array, and the collected data are transmitted to a central hub where they are validated, stored, and shared with decision makers.
