Hårdvaruenheter, often referred to as hardware devices, are the physical components that make up a computer system or any electronic device. These are the tangible parts that you can see and touch, as opposed to software, which comprises the instructions and programs that tell the hardware what to do. Hårdvaruenheter can be broadly categorized into input devices, output devices, processing devices, and storage devices.

Input devices allow users to send data and commands into a computer. Examples include keyboards, mice, microphones, scanners, and touchscreens. These devices translate physical actions or information into digital signals that the computer can understand.

Output devices display or present the results of the computer's processing to the user. Common examples are monitors, printers, speakers, and projectors. They convert digital information back into a format that humans can perceive, such as visual displays, sounds, or printed documents.

Processing devices are the "brains" of the computer. The central processing unit (CPU) is the primary processing device, responsible for executing instructions and performing calculations. Other processing components include the graphics processing unit (GPU) for handling visual rendering.

Storage devices are used to retain data and programs. This category includes both primary storage (volatile, like RAM, which loses data when power is off) and secondary storage (non-volatile, like hard disk drives, solid-state drives, and USB drives, which retain data without power). Together, these components work in concert to enable the functionality of modern electronic devices.
