Förvaltningsrätten is a Swedish administrative court. It is the first instance in the Swedish administrative court system. Cases are typically brought before a förvaltningsrätt when an individual or a company disagrees with a decision made by a public authority. These authorities can include municipalities, county councils, government agencies, and other public bodies.

The types of cases heard by a förvaltningsrätt are varied and cover a broad spectrum of administrative law. Common examples include disputes over tax assessments, social insurance benefits, permits and licenses, child welfare decisions, and decisions related to immigration and asylum. The court's role is to review the legality of the administrative authority's decision, ensuring that it was made in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.

A förvaltningsrätt is composed of a president and several other judges, often referred to as länsrätten judges or just judges. In some cases, particularly those involving complex legal matters or significant public interest, the court may consist of multiple judges. Legal arguments are presented either in writing or through oral hearings, where parties can present their case and evidence. The court's decision can be appealed to a higher administrative court, the kammarrätt. The principle of proportionality, ensuring that administrative measures are not more burdensome than necessary to achieve their objective, is a key consideration in the court's deliberations.
