Fixedrail is a term used in engineering and manufacturing to refer to a stationary guide mechanism that provides a track for moving components. In a fixed-rail system, the rail itself remains fixed to a base or supporting structure, while a carriage, slider, or other moving element travels along it. This arrangement contrasts with systems in which the track or rail is part of a moving assembly or where the guide is non-linear.

Design considerations: Key factors include required load, rigidity, and straightness; rail material, surface finish, and hardness; mounting accuracy; lubrication and seal design; and anticipated wear and maintenance intervals. Proper alignment and temperature management are essential to maintain precision.
