Fixace is a Czech and Slovak term derived from the Latin fixare, used to denote fixation, fastening, or stabilization. In technical contexts it describes the act or result of making something immobile, securing a position, or establishing a fixed state or attachment across various disciplines.

In psychology and psychiatry, fixation refers to a persistent focus on a particular object, idea, or developmental stage. In Freudian theory, psychosexual fixation denotes that an early stage remains influential. More broadly, the term can describe enduring patterns of attention or behavior.

In biology and medicine, fixation preserves biological tissues for examination. Tissue fixation uses chemicals such as formaldehyde or glutaraldehyde to halt decay and stabilize cellular structures, enabling staining and microscopy. The process is a prerequisite for many histological and analytical procedures.
